Models don't look right

If it still doesn't look right, you will want to go into "Edit Mode". Make sure the whole model is selected and choose the "Remove Doubles" from the list on the left.

None of that worked, it was still blocky and the adding texture made it black. Also, when i remove doubles, it just lets me select one spot on it and stretch it out and deform the model.
