Well some guy made NSMB3, which basically replaces all the NSMB levels with those from SMB3 (effectively making SMB3 with new graphics). It's an interesting idea, and although I probably won't play it any time soon it shows the potential of editing the levels. Personally I think messing around and using certain features to their extremities would be fun
