vSNES:

Advantages:
- Disables ripple effects
- Disables screentone
- Disables sprites which overlay other sprites (also vice-versa)
- Disables Mode 7
- zsnes and snes9x cut off your maps, this tool shows you everything (but only a part of the current map depending on where you made the quicksave)
Disadvantages:
- MAYBE palette issues which depend on the game, just check it with an additional zsnes screenshot
- vSNES only shows the sprites at the moment where you made the quicksave
- Not needed for all SNES sprites, zsnes with disabled layers is mostly enough
There is also YY-CHR (a tile viewer), but I've only ripped Energy Breaker with it a long time ago. Just try it out, if you need a tutorial I can make one.
