Mutsukki's pretty dead-on the money. As far as Nayr goes, I think that case really boils down to if we want him to improve his art, or him to improve as an artist, and I'm not really sure which goal tSR should pursue.
As far as C+C goes, I figure telling them the good things on their sprites, in addition to the bad, would be a happy medium. For example, telling them that their shading is good, in addition to their linework being godawful, would be both helpful and give off a feeling of brutal honesty instead of pointless dickishness. Besides, I don't think it'd be too bad considering you're already going through the effort of analyzing everything about their sprite.
Also, since this post and the last couple ones are probably more in line with this topic, uh
I sprite because I wanted to contribute to a project. And then after that got really boring, I just kept doing it because I... needed a hobby?
