This would be my answer to why I bother scratching somethings where edits would not only be faster and easier, but acceptible.
Anyways, I sprite for a lot of reasons. For fun is almost always a partial reason, but I'd eventually like to do something more with it. I tend to sprite for some other use, and rarely make a sprite I don't intend to use for something else (even in competition, I'll attempt to make something I can use elsewhere, or make something based on a idea I had earlier). "Stand alone" sprites are usually just designs for ideas I had that I don't quite have a place for yet (And I tend to find a place later)
And Nindo, that was nicely said. I might disagree with it partially, as I find the bulk of what "for fun" really means is, in fact, the soul improving nature of art, as well as part of the reasons for using it as a tool rather than something else. So I really just find what you said to be the explaination behind "I sprite for fun".
Still nice to see it articulated, since it tends to stay unconsious and unsaid, just behind the what is spoken.
