Well, I think there's just a slight deficiency of indie games at the moment. Right now there aren't so much, probably because indie developers take longer than commercial developers to make games, but in due time there'll be a new batch of indie games.
For example Jonathan Blow, who made Braid, is currently working on The Witness, which is assumed to be released sometime in 2013. Tomorrow Corporation, one member whom is Kyle Gabler (who worked on World of Goo with Ron Carmel) is already allowing people to pre-order Little Inferno, and beta versions have been released to some pre-orderers. I'm sure others like Supergiant Games and Team Meat (or members of those) are also working on more games.
So while there may be a drought right now, the monsoon will come before too long.
