I'll be honest with you guys. I don't see how they are similar (apart from size but that's really not much to go on). When I first designed the rival character, I'll admit I was thinking of her being a "dark" version of Arisa, but Gors didn't want that. My earlier design looked a bit too much like Arisa.
So I kept at it (at one point I designed her to be a wizard, like Kamek) and it eventually went to Belle's current design.
I'm not very good at designing clothing at all, but seeing Arisa's "school uniform" attire, I designed Belle's to look like that of a rival school's uniform (or something like that).
Maybe my eyes don't work but other than their similar height, I can't see how they're to be evenly matched. Perhaps someone can explain it to me. Is there some deeper aspect I'm not getting?
I still like the shorter Belle. I acknowledge the critique but I feel making her taller would establish herself as being superior than Arisa; which is something she's striving to do already. A rival knows they have to outmatch the hero. If they're already one step ahead, then there's no substance to their goal. You know what I mean? Belle is trying to be the hero despite being short and ordinary.
And besides, with short Belle, you can't deny that she's the...
Come on. You know you wanna hug her.
Joking aside, in the end, it's Gors' game. Even if it is a character I designed (with his help of course), if he wants to change it, then I can't argue about it.
