Alright, if people don't like memes. Then I'm not going to do that in my future indie. And I still don't understand why it's childish.

To quote from TheBestGamers (Fez review on the "Deal with it" anaglyph glasses scene):
"And of course, no work of art is complete without funny internet jokes. Look at that! It's just like that one picture I saw on the internet of the glasses going on the thing. It's pretty funny. I'm glad I have jokes I know I am supposed to laugh at already instead of new ones. Thank you".

The problem with using "le popular memes" is that it is the height of unoriginality. It demonstrates a lack of insight on the dev's part, since: It's popular, it must be good!
Games like BLOps II and Mass Effect 3 are popular, on a related note

At least you know now and hopefully won't make the same kind of error again.
