That is true, but it is SEGA who chooses SUMO to do so.
Not to sound like I'm talking down on SUMO. In fact, I think they do an amazing job and do SEGA's franchises great justice.
The point I was trying to make was that games like Sonic Colors and Generations at least tried to appeal, while Nintendo just doesn't try anymore. Mario Kart 7 was good, NSMB2 was good, Mario Tennis Open is just Mario Tennis from what I've heard (that game I do not own), but none of them are great. Calling it Mario simply sells and it looks like they simply hang on to that policy, and it is such a shame. I'm a huge Mario fan and would defend NSMB2 from being called 'bad', but I wish I could praise it to the stars, but I can't. That hurts my gaming soul.
