When they first added him, Scooby-Doo was at its lowest ratings, and they needed new viewership, so they made Scrappy.
The reason why the character himself is hated is because he demeanor is the exact opposite to the rest of the cast. While
everyone else is cautious and generally careful (provided neither Scooby or Shaggy are hungry of course,) Scrappy is
fool-hardy and head-strong, and preforms acts of strength that are an the side of unbelievability. Of course the series had
it's share of slapstick and sight gags (IE sandwich gobbling and the like) nothing was taken to a level that just couldn't be
believed. Scrappy can break through walls, run over water... all without reason. Not to mention, his "catch-phrases" are
some of the worst I've ever heard. Nothing irritated me more as a child than turning on the tv on Saturday mornings and
hearing "Puuuuuupy POOOOOOWER!"
TL:DR - Scrappy sucks because he is loud, annoying, and an overall unlikable kind of character. Many believe he is the
reason behind the eventual decline in viewership, and eventually the cancellation of the main series.
