Mine arrived just today. I'm really enjoying it so far, to be very honest. The RPG elements may be gone, in a sense, but as far as I'm understanding, you do get stronger and you also get more health, just not from battles. While the story is basically gone, the writing is still very witty and there are a lot more dialogues than I expected, especially since what I read people saying.
I must say, I probably enjoyed this more because I wasn't expecting a regular Paper Mario after the entire internet's comment, It's a good, enjoyable and fun game, it just isn't RPG Paper Mario. The battle system is not too bad either, there's a fair amount of challenge and planning. Also the music is great. I'm only at World 2, but since I started I only stopped to eat (3 consecutive hours playing after I started).
Though, after reading the interview, I can see this as a game with a good and fun premise, that was hold back because some of Miyamoto's terrible feedback interpretation and [old] out of place design ideas, that work for Mario, but not for this series.
