That's a spot on description of how the format works.
As for the rips, I saw how they're being organized, but I don't like how they're being combined to a ridiculously big image, having transparency removed, and becoming more difficult to use and look through. If you insist on having sections for each I would prefer if you could keep the game's organization and separation of sprites.
