I've said it a million times before, and I'll say it again.
A Sonic 1 through 3k game with a revised storyline that connects all four games together (2 through 3k all happen right after each other, but there's no universally agreed-upon [story/canon] explanation for why there are only 6 emeralds in sonic 1 while there are 7 in the rest of the games and then what happens between Sonic 1 and Sonic 2) with completely resprited HD graphics (sprites, no vectors) and a remastered soundtrack (of course with the option to keep the original tracks) would be probably the best thing ever.
Especially if they do it right like they did with Sonic CD and make a completely modernized engine from scratch, but that still keeps all the features and gameplay of the original.
Throw in a PC release that allows for a level editor and modding, and suddenly you have infinite replay value.
And of course a Chaotix remake done the same way.
