Considering the amount of discussion being generated here, at a non-Pokecentric site, I'd say the buzz publicity makes it not at all unlikely.
Nobody addressed the weight loss because a salamander becomes a dragon, a melted icecream cone becomes a mime, and a malformed purple penguin becomes Jynx. The evolution here, this Frostitute, hardly constitutes any kind of dramatic change at all, really. It's actually an extremely tame shift in design compared to a lot of previous evolutions. Including those which were created back during the first generation.
