You may as well be saying that theres no point in weaknesses in general since you could just over level yourself and one shot opponents if I'm understanding you correctly. Having the option to use super effective attacks that can take out a tough enemy in 1 hit versus 3 can make all the difference in a battle, and up until now, poison types didn't really matter in that since the only thing they were effective against was grass types who already have a ton of other more common weaknesses anyways. No no no. In a leveled off battle, namely in places like the Frontier or Wifi, even if a move is super effective, it's not guaranteed to OHKO the Pokemon. I've come across that many times when I did use it. The only thing that's guaranteed is that you'll get the "It's super effective!" message, but in reality, it can only take like 1/3 of the HP away. Yet, because the opponent raised their Pokemon so well with the IVs and EVs and all that other stuff I don't really care to pay attention too, they do a "not very effective" move or a normal hit and you're under half/near dead/OHKOed. That's what I'm saying. It's not about super-effectivity, it's about raising the Pokemon with a good movepool and very specific stats to win the game.
