I really despise accusations over copyright infringement because it's starting to become an annoying trend lately.

Well... to be fair, a lot of the so-called "accusations" are legitimate claims against copyright infringement. As far as the LAW is concerned, your point is moot. However, when it comes to things like the canned Chrono Trigger project which had a lot of fan interest, while it is technically for all intents and purposes and infringement of copyright, it did break the fans' hearts.

But yeah, its still infringement.
