I have to say I like the IDEA of Superman, even if he is overpowered. He's a bit of an ideal superhero, definitely the primary superhero archetype that lots of similar superheroes stem off of.
HOWEVER, from what little amount of actual Superman lore I've read in actual comics, it just seems impossible for people to write a good story around him. Sure, there's good Superman stuff out there, but I've seen a lot of bad stuff.
I think what irks me the most about Marvel and DC comic book heroes in general is that for the vast majority of them I kind of wish they WEREN'T in the same universes as each other. I just feel like some of these groups of characters would be easier and more entertaining to write about if they didn't bleed into each other so much, make so many inconsistencies, etc.
