if there's a TSR de Pon
okay
Tetris Attack literally one of my favorite games, ever, and I've always had this idea in the back of my head but didn't think it would fly that well - like I've had the idea but not the skill nor time to do it.
that love was recently rekindled upon playing Panel de Pon (which Cinemarella bought me!)
not to be an aggressive butt-baby but
okay screw it. i need to get in that roster real bad, and my first attempt at doing so will be dumping a shitload of ideas right here
of course you don't have to adhere to these, I'm just trying to get the ball rolling
VS: Bloom goes on vacation, and upon her return, finds the TSRverse (a odd place with little properties floating high in the sky) in havoc, as Overlord Next (?? Previous doppleganger) has returned, locking up the fair Puzzle Princess [Mighty Jetters], ruling it with an iron fist thanks to his new device, the Anxiety Precipitator, a truly heinous device that causes anxiety to well from the sea, into the clouds and rain truly distressing rain that causes everyone to freak out about extremely stupid things while also turning them 8-bit:
Vipershark: "There's a ghost in my house! He's going to erase my GAME SAVES!!!"
Starsock: "All of my socks are dirty! I only have MISMATCHED SOCKS! HELP!!!"
It's up to Bloom, with the power of the Bestowed Pixeljam Wand, to make things right and pixelated once more though the power of Puzzle Jam! (and each solved VS puzzle have a ridiculous happy 16-bit character wave you farewell as you travel to the next island running across a saccharine rainbow)
Once you help your Eight Friends, you then journey into the Spamhaul Dungeon (???) and fight two brainwashed administrators (Gors then Dazz?) [and Easy Jam is cleared here] before going up against the likes of Kevin Treibel [and Normal Jam is cleared here] and ultimately, the almighty Overlord Next!!
Upon beating Next, he, in a goofy cutscene, rubs his head and shrinks back down to Previous, before going back to his humble abode elsewhere in TSRverse. You bust open the dungeon where the Puzzle Princess has been held captive, and happiness is restored. [and Hard Jam ends here, with a tip on how to unlock Very Hard]
On Very Hard Jam, after thanking you for your efforts, Puzzle Princess expresses her desire to face off against someone who rivals her in pixel-puzzle skill. At this point, the true ending plays (however you'd like this to go; idk) and after that, Maniac Jam is unlocked, which is the stupidly hard mode with nuclear difficulty that only Mighty Jetters herself can clear (also take note of the abbreviation of each difficulty and you'll realize why each difficulty uses "Jam" instead of "Mode")
Stage Clear should have its own little story, with comedic dialogue between two characters [Arisa and Sengi, Gors and his sister, Vipershark and Angie...whomever] peppering the start of each "Stage" ("Stages" are broken down into five "Levels") with advanced hints on how to play and better optimize your clear time.

It's up to you where you want to go with this, but I think it'd be a pretty novel idea to actually make higher-res panels (to showcase our efforts here within TSR, of course) (32x32 blocks max, then resized 50%) so the overall product looks cleaner. and actual like, different ideas with the block designs
Also, it'd be pretty awesome if we had character-individual garbage blocks similar to those seen in PdP. Honestly though, where this game really needs to shine in terms of visuals is within the VS mode's character backgrounds (arguably the most beautiful art asset within the game).
Perhaps two different soft-vector renders, one design for the left-side player and one for the right-side player. For what I mean, check out Pokemon Puzzle League's art assets.

These look freaking AWESOME in-game because it looks like the two players are actually facing off against one another.
Likewise, if we could have cool pixel-y explosions after scoring a Combo or Chain that'd be neat -- but the only thing I'm drawing a blank on is the STOP! mechanic - in PdP and TA there was a little sentient clock that sat, hand outstretched in the top right, which halts the blocks from rising for x seconds. If you're still grasping at straws, in Pokemon Puzzle League, the clock was replaced by a Jigglypuff. Both the clock and Jigglypuff got really anxious around 2~1 seconds remaining

Also if it saves resources, I'd go for a really cute montage in Endless mode in the background with a couple of TSR insertions instead of like, eight different stages (unless you're like, totally OK with that)

the game will become impossible to win
