There are plenty of goofy, creative, and well conceived Pokemon. There isn't a generation that doesn't have silly Pokemon. Sure, some have more complicated designs with interesting backstories (Glalie, Farfetch'd, and Mawile, for example--and I love them more for that, but to each his own `u`), and others are silly and entertaining, (Vannilish, Trubbish, Swirlix, Honedge), but they're all so different.
I can understand that some generations may be more nostalgic for whatever reasons (Gen III will forever be my favorite), but it's not fair to say that gens I and V are the ONLY generations with creative pokemon designs.
