None of the reason you gave Midi are objectively valid. What SSF does holds no weight here. Neither does Nintendo's failure in attempt if everyone continues to use their stuff anyways. Someone else robbing a bank and succeeding doesn't justify you doing so too.
Any pros given can change his mind. However, in this situation, they mean nothing. Damien denied permission.
I thought the issue was the way Damian called him out. Also, I reiterate, THEY'RE PLACEHOLDERS; they won't be in the final game! Why is that even a big deal in the first place. This all should have ended when Jitter made that plain as day that they're just placeholders.
Also, are you seriously comparing using someone else's pixel art in a fan game (still as PLACEHOLDERS) to robbing a bank? Using sprites in a fan game that makes no money and is not used to discredit or slander anyone is harmless. Let me make it clear that I'm not saying that justifies anything; it's just harmless. Robbing a bank, on the other hand, is not harmless; it affects a lot of people, it's a felony, it could even get you killed. How can you compare the two?
