I've been negative repped for how I used to carry out discussion, just some food for thought. Maybe take into consideration how you word posts, usually if you earnestly look you'll find something you were saying that comes across the wrong way with people. It's not "childish", instead of derailing the thread and making this about how you post, he took another, perfectly valid route that you would notice.
