Same deal with Yoshi really. Yoshi is treated as its own franchise within the game, but there isn't much unique Yoshi-related content because it's seen as an extension of the Mario universe. The Yoshi and Donkey Kong franchises tend to be treated as if they are on the same level.

I realize you are upset with the choice of words he used, but in the end you are essentially agreeing with him. His point was that he doesn't blame the clone characters for this very reason.
