However the worst offender is the Villager, because his face is all jagged. The face is the most important thing to be rendered in a character, in my opinion (because that's the first thing you'll look at on a character, and if it looks weird then there will be problems).
here's an attempt to fix his face, being: making his eyes more evened out, using lighter colors for the eyebrows to maximize space efficiency and toning down on the chin shading for more facial space
Yours is on the left, right? The chin shading edits are good and a lot cleaner, but now the eyes are less accurate. Even if the first one is jaggy, those eye arcs that Villager has are very iconic their overall shape. Downplaying them isn't doing any favours, I feel.
That upside-down U shape is what we're craving...
Maybe there's a way to make it smoother, but to keep the sharp clarity?

But yeah, listen to the rest of Gors's post. A lot of these sprites have jaggy lines and looked traced, even if they aren't. You should have more contrasted colors and better shading.
