I assumed you used a CMS to build the page, and then just check a thing to show the jump after an <hr> break.
Actually, what I was suggesting was a link to another page, and after the first paragraph, add a link called something nice, like "It's been a long run, indeed" - and have that link to another page that you could actually spruce up to your heart's content.
If, one day, you want to bring everything down and start fresh, you can make that long farewell page the main page in the meantime while you prep your site for something that more suits your modern fancy.
