As much as I'd love to see a portable re-release of Thousand-Year Door (although I'd much rather have a brand-new Paper Mario for the Wii U), these leaks just reek of absolute hogwash to me. There are just too many red flags here.

LeakBusters

Red Flag #1: No opening story sequence is shown in the title GIF. Also, no first-party Nintendo 3DS game (to my knowledge) ever boots up with a splash screen featuring the Nintendo logo (because of the Nintendo 3DS screen appearing before each game boots up).

Red Flag #2: Copyright info is entirely absent. You'd expect a tiny blurb saying "© 2004 - 2015 Nintendo, game by Intelligent Systems, yadda yadda yadda" to be displayed up there, but... nope.

Red Flag #3: The title image is a tad off-center. Kammy Koopa looks pretty cramped on the edge of the screen there.

Red Flag #4: The "press any button" text shouldn't be on the top screen. The majority of 3DS titles move stuff like that to the bottom screen to make room for other stuff on the top... like copyright info (which this screen, again, doesn't include).

Red Flag #5: The person recording the GIF went out of their way to obscure the bottom screen, which suggests that they were too lazy to animate a fake bottom screen for the title.

Red Flag #6: Peach, the Fire Flower, the Dry Bones, the Boos (from what I could tell), and the Koopa are still using their classic designs. Assuming that this is not just a straight no-frills down-and-dirty port (which I sincerely doubt would be something that Nintendo gives us as the final product), wouldn't they update some of the characters to make them look consistent with how they look nowadays (i.e., NSMBDS and onwards)? In fact, shouldn't everything, such as the backgrounds and other aesthetics, have at least some few changes? Compare Kirby Super Star Ultra (another Nintendo portable remake) and compare the SNES original and you'll see what I'm talking about.

Also, why on 3DS? I think the Wii U would be more likely to receive a Gamecube remaster (see: Wind Waker HD), while 3DS seems more like the go-to station for remakes of N64 games (see: Ocarina of Time and Majora's Mask 3D, Starfox 64 3D). Then again, two Wii games (Donkey Kong Country Returns and Xenoblade Chronicles) got/are getting 3DS re-releases (New 3DS for the latter), so I dunno.

After the ArtsyOmni Rayman Smash 4 debacle, I'm not letting things like this get me all excited for nothing again.
