Gorillas do age faster than humans, but even assuming that.... Donkey Kong should have been about fifteen in the arcade original and about thirty or forty as Cranky Kong... So, assume a fifteen to twenty year timeskip. Since Mario's age has never been classified as far as I know, it's possible for him to have been about 19 during the arcade classic and into his mid-thirties by the present. All that jumping has probably kept him pretty healthy (he's even gotten skinnier in recent times).
This gets a lot weirder when you look at Yoshi's Island DS, where we meet Donkey Kong (presumably the same Donkey Kong that serves as the protagonist in Donkey Kong Country) as a baby... and he's a little bit older then Mario (when, by the Cranky-Was-the-Original theory, he would have to be decades younger).
