Don't be embarrassed. I had this happen once where I posted a drawing I did on paper (my pencil-to-paper skills pale in comparison to my digital art ability, at least IMO). It was of a nude girl posing, and someone posted references on how to draw boobs. That actually embarrassed me as well but I just went on with the show.
Heck, I still struggle doing the basics too so don't feel bad. I figure that since people learn things in different ways and at different paces, it isn't bad that you wouldn't have as much experience on this type of thing. I think if anything it's good that you tried something different! Maybe it didn't quite work out the first time but that's okay. What does, really? Just keep at it and we'll help you improve on whatever it is you need help with.
