I don't see what's wrong with the icon and text view buttons being where they are... I mean, they could be elsewhere, but then the entire page wouldn't be good from a design view as it would have completely screwed up symmetry.

The transition would look something like this

it wouldn't screw up the symmetry at all. In fact it would probably be more symmetrical.



Also SDB looked like tSR when it first came out, what with it's icons and stuff. And you could argue that both sites look like tSGK or one of the many other spriting sites anyway.
