Of course it didn't help that beforehand it was inconsistent (there were even games from the same series that had both Roman numerals and regular numbering, on the same page too!).

Except for Amy Rose and Cream the Rabbit, all the characters' sprites are from the first Sonic Advance, not the second. How to tell? Easy.
*No "mild walk" sprites when the characters start moving form a standstill (which was first introduced in SA2)
*The SA1 Special Stage sprites (complete with the boards); SA2's special stages have an entirely different gameplay style.
