Also out of curiosity how would you personally go about animating the wing plasma effect you know the cool passive wing effect. be fore in the the brawl one I simply animated the uv in a certain way but I'm sure there is a better way. it's cool though If not my way works it's just a bit janky. 

I wouldn't really know how to do that but you can ask those guys in the m2k2 thread you posted about how it's actually done in the game. That could give you an idea on how you can do it.
