I can't remember any bad VG music off the top of my head, but I can remember two bad-sounding systems. On the ZX Spectrum, even the great Tim Follin struggled to produce something listenable with the primitive beeper:

The Sega Master System sounded pretty bad too. Even a famous and well-composed song can loose some of its edge on the console:
