I can already see Splatoon fan-characters being the new Sonic fan-characters. Except this time we won't have to deal with sprite recolors.

Well, people now have access to SFM/GMOD, so they can take models and edit them however they want...It may not be as common as sprite recolors, but there's an uprising.
