Why is a third version even necessary anymore, lol - especially with the remakes? I mean with like the remakes they're usually SO packed with content it doesn't really matter whether they do or don't because they always add a little something extra (gen 1's Orange Islands (?) and Mew, Gen 2's...uhhh, the things? Shit it's gen 2. And Gen 3's Delta storyline) Like, really - nowadays, TPC could theoretically out DLC updates that adds postgame content after launch.
y'know, with that story I wrote I originally said "oh hey, why doesn't Red himself come out of retirement (after Gold came and beat his ass silly) and go all around Kanto to stop a Blue who's become the new leader of Team Rocket with Green's help - who's now a Pokemon postdoc researcher and occasionally pushes out items to you giving you support from Pallet", but then I realized that like,
gamers probably couldn't handle playing as a 31-year old man who literally left his wife and baby girl at home to engage in A Child's Sport, and being the child of Red (or Blue) would actually make more sense in the Pokemon universe because, uh well
it just fucking does
btw, just curious on fan theories: Do the Pokemon games, with the exception of GSC, all happen at chronologically the same time, or do they happen at different points in time?
I'd say "different points" because there's the 'national pokedex' that acknowledges all the known pokemon at that time, which is updated with each passing generation, but I really wanna believe "all at the same time" ):
