In addition, I think you need to work on the color of your outlines. On the first sprite and last two, the black outlines on the inside of the sprite make it difficult to tell what is going on with the drawing. I would recommend using a darker shade of the interior color for the lines of the sprite instead of black outlines.

I took all of the comments to heart and changed a sprite I made today. The before and after is pretty cool. A thanks to everybody pointing these things things out. Without you guys I probably would never have Identified these problems.
