So I bought Planet Robobot yesterday, because like hell I'm going to let a single day pass between the release of a Kirby game and me purchasing it. Bought all the Amiibo too.
Anyways you might recall me saying earlier in this thread:
Well, I'm happy to report that I was wrong about this. While there are areas of the game where you literally cannot move forward without the Robobot armor, it turns out a lot of the time the armor is actually optional ... even missable, if you're not paying attention. It also does not always appear at the conclusion of a stage; sometimes you might encounter a single room where you have to use the armor to solve a puzzle, but can't bring it with you to the next room.
What really makes me giddy though is that there are some levels where there are hidden unnecessary armors that you can pick up. You may encounter a secret door with an armor hidden inside for your use in a regular stage area. It reminds me a lot of encountering a Yoshi in the original Super Mario World ... except for the fact that you can't bring it out of the stage with you.
Anyways my point is you should buy the game. WHY HAVEN'T YOU BOUGHT THE GAME YET?!?
