Not gonna lie, that model is horrible.
Firstly, it got rejected becasue you didn't even include a .obj and .dae, but aside from that, the model is a mess.
The model is poorly constructed to say the least, horribly uneven and incredibly mishapen; it only barely resembles a Mario star. The verts are also terrible, being reciciously high poly without any detail. The construction of it is just rehensible, the thousands of edges dont even line up straight, but on a bais to the side.
As for how you could make it better, the mirror modifier is your friend. Instead of goign through the pain of modellign the whole star, the mirror modifier can cut that work down into a literal half. Another thing you could do is really cut down on the verts you use. you don't need 100 verts for one side. It's okay to be lazy, plus, it looks better most of the time when you use fewer verts.
That's the best I can give you. Hopfully, you can improve next time.
