Welcome! A lot of people here never rip anything, it's definitely not a requirement But it's nice to hear that you've joined after learning a bit!
The best examples are what are already on the sites. The different sites have different guidelines but the general rule of thumb is that the rips should be of the highest quality possible, as complete as possible (no missing frames of sprites or incomplete sets of sounds), and organised in a sensible manner.
The wiki has a page for general things that applies to all sites, with links to site-specific pages too. They aren't all complete but the Sounds Resource one should be sufficient.
Regardless, all submissions are moderated by staff before being publicly available on the site. This means that it can take a while before they get done (the Sounds Resource queue in particular is very long), but we do get around to everything. If your submission has something wrong with it, it will be rejected but we will do our best to explain why and how you can improve it before re-submitting
