Well nobody saw that coming (pun intended).
I'm wondering what this means for Vergeben. Is he no longer a credible source? Was he ever credible to begin with? Or is he right and a Square rep I'll come out first, but Joker was just announced first? I don't know what to think anymore.
Also what does this mean for the other DLC characters? Obviously third party can happen but now that Joker was announced it showed that: A. A newcomer can come from a company that has never been involved with smash. B. Absolutely anybody has a chance to get in.
