Thanks for the warm welcome; the lava actually used to be a water texture in an earlier draft of the resource pack, but someone said that the animation looked more like paper floating on water or something similar, but it was one of the first few textures I did so I'm still a bit proud of it, especially for doing such a complicated texture so earely on.

Blender's pretty great. It's got practically everything you need for 3D work, and there's tons of tutorials for it. Should serve you well, methinks. 

Thanks! That's actually my second model I made in general, and while I know the basics of Blender, I'm definitely not the best at it but I am looking at tutorials to see what to do and how to do it.
