To view Genesis games via yy-chr, you would select the 4BPP MSX option where it says Format. That's the only good news.
The ROM is mostly compressed I'm afraid so you couldn't get the font via yy-chr even if you wanted to. A majority of Genesis games use compression. Comix Zone uses a form of LZSS compression and there isn't a tool for it, you pretty much have to be a programmer and really know the system to do it. It also happens to be one of the most trickiest games to rip on the console.
Out of curiosity, looked at the Tile Viewer while using BizHawk. The text is stored rather strangely is all I can say... As in that it isn't done in the typical blocks that a font normally uses on the console but rather whatever text pops up on screen. This is where it gets complex like all things Comix Zone and depends on the scenario. This affects all languages including Japanese and would make fan translation of this game incredibly difficult.
The cutscenes are the easiest to rip the text from but the downside is that it isn't a font... It is literally whatever line appears on screen and the tiles use the entire line (no tile recycling).
Using the speech bubble examples. Sketch says "Ouch!!" on the first part of the first level. Usually you would have six blocks for each of the letters/symbols but here? It is still six tiles but... split between tiles so you have part of an O, then the rest of the O and a bit of U, and so on. Then Alissa says "Oh, here you are!" It reuses some tiles such as the split O from the first line but a different tile for the part of the O and H.
The menus only load up the required tiles and is the same as the speech bubbles.
