Oh godStreet Fighter requires memorization of calculus-style combos and serious hitbox study to win matches. Tekken requires knowledge of game physics to juggle and win. Dead or Alive/Virtua Fighter relies on...button-mash combinations and knowledge of stages to knock your opponent off/make bigger combos
Brawl has no combo system, no form of juggles, and the quickest way to KO your opponent is to steal the ledge they should be grabbing onto to recover
Smash's control system is loosely based on Kirby
Kirby games are known for their broad appeal to casual gamers and hardcore alike
So yeah, Brawl is a casual fighting game. Look at its roster: Mario, Link, Pikachu, Sonic...how could it NOT be targeting casuals?
(and if you're going to bring up Naruto: Clash of Ninja being a fighting game...no. No anime game is a legit fighter unless it's made by Capcom or Sammy)
