It doesn't look much different, sorry. To behonest this style seems ugly as hell, why not choose a nicer one?

This is truely quite a unique style and that's not a bad thing, it just needs a few new points to its design.

I can instantly identify the extreme shading (that must be quite the light source!), especially judging by the most recent Mario. It uses a bold outline of black shades a few pixels thick giving it a cartoonish feel and has high levels on contrast shading. However, some of the shading used are not quite consistent with the current angle of light, (like the hat) aka pillow shading. According to the shades of the overalls, the light comes from the upper left corner, so the entire image would be shaded similarly to the overalls. Those overalls are really shiney too, shading could also be applied in revelence to the material (in this case, denim overalls), some materials require much less shading (like the skin tone) compared to glass objects or other shinier objects.

Not mine. Light source comes from upper right corner, so lighter parts come from the upper right, while darker parts are to the lower left.

Mario looks kind of smug with that look in his eye and the position of his stache'. The top of his nose seems to have a black outline, and also seems too small of a nose for Mario. Try blending the top of the nose with the skin and increase the size of the nose a little. The moustache could also be increase in vertical depth as the face appears to have too much space between the moustache and the chin/cheek.

Other then a few design edits, its quite a style.

Um... do you speak english? I'm just wondering, because you seem to be oblivious to everything.

Of course Rockman64 knows English (to a degree) because he can speak in short sentences that make sense, but it's not my buisness or priveledge to ask if he's adept at English or whatnot. It's the same as questioning if someone can read, or speak spanish, or etc. The grammar could however use work, but that's once again not my buisness nor is it relevant to the topic.

----

I'll try to put this in the most understandable way I can.

Try to identify and designate where the light source will be; in the current case, it's in the upper left corner (as the shading on Mario's overalls indicate) so the light will shine upon Mario from the upper left corner. The overalls are fine as they are, but try to practice shading on objects. The hat for example, on top of Mario's head, is not using the same shading technique as his overalls. The hat is shaded equally around the edges, not using a set light source, and the overalls shaded with light put into consideration. Try to match the two by placing darker colors farther from the light source, and lighter tones closer to the light source like you did with the overalls. That was good.

Another small tweak could be to expand the nose about a pixel of depth in all directions, and use the same outline used for Mario's skin for the nose outline. Currently, this outline is black but it could look better using the brownish outline used for Mario's face. Also, try to lower the moustache under the nose about a layer of pixels to make it appear closer to the chin and farther from the eyes. We can get to the moustache shape later, but we just need to correct a few more obvious pieces first.

Once a few effects are achieved, this can become quite the sprite. Just for now; try shading Mario's hat, and moving the nose and moustache.

What are you on about? No-one threatened to kick you off the site (as if we have that power anyway), and no-one asked you to stop spriting. All we ask is that you read and take in the constructive criticism given by people. They aren't trying to offend you or anything, they are simply saying what could be done improve the sprite, and improve you as a spriter.

Members under 13 aren't allowed here. It's in the rules.

However... I will let it slide just this once, but I will ban if things start to go awry.

Ah yes, I always forget that rule because on so many sites it's ignored and no-one cares. :/
