I'm fully aware of this and this isn't really altering my strategy much I'm not going to be ultra competitive about it; I'm just going in, grabbing a shiny Eevee, and have fun with my buddies who are dragging me along oh, and the roamers aren't part of the restricted list, so I *might* use one as a backup or something, provided I don't use an uber like Giratina or be a total asshole and use a Wobbuffet
Giritina is allowed for play so what difference does it make? Uber 1 on 1 and Ubers in double battles aren't even the same >: Wob won't even work because all you have to do is gang up on him with two Pokemon and he dies.
Also, "Pros" do play doubles, the VGC is a big deal and a great opportunity to meet other people http://www.smogon.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=127 http://skarmbliss.com/pokemonanalyses.html

Also, I do honestly remember a time where doubles was reviled by metagame tourneyfags like it made you instantly grow a tumor if you were exposed to it for too long. Meh, who cares.

For anyone who actually doesn't want to lose in the first round, there's a new program like Shoddy Battle with VGC style battles. Test your team or whatever.

So people will just walk in with pure uber teams.
...wut otherwise this sounds pretty cool

Not all of the ubers are listed under restricted or ineligible pokemon. but then again i doubt many people would have both garchomp and wobbuffet on their team just to have 4 ubers. Thanked by: Rhyme

I know you're not using him but I would just like to say that Wobb needs to be hit to do any damage to the opponent. Using follow me would be pointless. EDIT: You guys seem to be missing the fact that Pokemon that are ubers in single battles =/= ubers in double battles. Garchomp isn't nearly as effective in doubles as he is in singles, in fact, few people are running him this year. There are no "ubers" in doubles battles. Ever Pokemon is pretty much equal here.

apparently THE offensive leading combo this year is Mewtwo and Abomasnow.
everyone, team something to counter these two. :C

hmm
what's the strategy behind mewtwo and abomasnow?
Abuse Blizzard Mostly
Mewtwo Runs Taunt/Blizzard/Thunder/Something else (probably Low Kick/Self Destruct or Aura Sphere). Thunder for Kyogre leads that switch in to negate hail, Taunt to stop set up, the usual. Blizzard hits both Pokemon. Fake Out leads will probably fuck them both up, and running someone with above 90 base speed will probably make life easier. The only problem being trick room could probably give you some trouble. Just keep Kyogre in reserve (probably should scarf it, you wont care about who's slower when its in reserve), and pound both of them with Water Spout. You could also use a Scarf Metagross lead and use Explosion; but Abomo often runs protect meaning you wont kill him, though, I would think Mewtwo would be the biggest threat, so hes the one you should kill. Safest bet is probably to run a Scarf Kyogre in reserve, and have Giritina (or another ice weak pokemon) in front to bait blizzard. Running a fast Pokemon with a fighting move and a fake out user beside him couldn't hurt either. Follow me won't work against these guys. If you plan on using the weather, slowest pokemon = the weather used. Thanked by: Rhyme
