keep the eye of the bullet bill in place. in the third frame of its animation it just strechs out too much.

The trees in Mario games are more simple, the trunk of the trees are usually very narrow and straight very rarely do they branch out at the roots or into the tree leaves. The leaves/top of the trees are usually rounder in shape, and most of the time symmetrical.

hope the reference pics and this blurb helped on the tree...

But if I do that then the arm can't move or it looks stupid, and therefor I can't have an animation at all, which defeats the purpose.

now I tried redoing the walk again, but it still doesn't look good. Does it still turn too far towards us?

I don't think he meant that

Bullet Bill's eye is twitching in this animation instead of turning properly. You'll want to fix that.

Goomba's head isn't moving accordingly to its body yet.

All the tiles are quite well done (are the boxes really that thin when spinning? Big Grin). Good work on the platforms, switches, blocks, and pipes!

Regarding the Bullet Bill, very well done on the shape and shading! A few spots I could point could use a glimpse (maybe I can specify precisely the points of interest).
- The eye on image 3 seems a pixel high. Try adding a single layer of grey pixel beneath the iris (without interfering with the arm outline) to add shape and consistency. Three pixels should be sufficient.
- The eye on image 4 also seems a pixel high. Try adding a single layer of grey pixel beneath the iris (3 pixels are adequate) and add two pixels of black just below the iris to lower the eye level.
- The opposite arm on images 2, 3 and 4 seem low based on the current angle of Bullet Bill. Try moving the opposite arm upward a layer, and on image 4 two layers. On 3 and 4, an extra black pixel of elbow behind the arms can enhance the effect.
Good work on the cannons, that stretching effect is a nice touch.

Based on the newest version of Goomba, I spotted a few curiousities about it.
- Excellent detail on the head, but it seems to be pointing differently the direction Goomba is walking! I'm afraid it would run into a wall when it's head is tilted 90* like that.
- The head pointing closest towards us is using 3 frames with the same head design, where it's opposite (the head pointing farthest from us)uses one. It could help to balance these two heads, using two of each.
- The head in responce to the feet movement is two frames behind. As soon as Goombas foot leaves the ground, the face would start moving in the same direction.
- The foot seems to lift from the ground by placing its toe in the air while it's heel is still on the floor. That would be pretty difficult to do. The heel is usually the first to leave the ground, and midstep begins to arc forward. Alas, the heel is also the first to hit the ground.

Hopefully, I put it in a format that was understandable! ^^ Hope it helps!

that was excellent critique. thank you very much for that.

Added some more grass tiles and fixed up the animations. I think the goomba is finally starting to look a bit better.

Well it's nice, the one problem I see is the Shy Guy, it looks to "heady"...

The boo looks retarded,i think its mainly to do with the eyebrows.
The new goomba is better, but still loks "off", not sure how to explain it.
