You don't need the atmosphere of a preschool television show to appeal to a younger audience. It reminded me of blues clues or the wiggles long before it reminded me of the adventures of sonic the hedgehog. I guess it's just one cutscene but jeez
In fact the atmosphere of every console sonic game since heroes has been completely ridiculous. It's either a horrible attempt at maturity or it's way too childish.

i thought the cutscene was cute. i mean the voice acting was hella tight compared to usual sonic fare and at least it wasn't some poorly crafted apocalypse soap opera like every game since Adventure

I like how it felt like a TV show.
I'm glad the voices aren't annoying, gonna take some getting used to since I was used to high-pitched 4kids fest I've heard over and over.
Edit: Actually I saw that SC is written by the guys who wrote Mad World.
I am becoming more and more satisfied.

so i'm not gonna lie, sonic colours doesn't look all that bad
although the voice acting was bad, and there were a few cringe-worthy moments in the cutscene, it all seems significantly better than what we've been getting

Yeah, I actually prefer the writing here. The being more childish only benefits it. Being so ridiculously serious just made the writing seem thrice as bad. Here, it's bearable and I think it fits Sonic more. By being childish, I guess I can excuse more writing flaws? D-double standard.

He shouldn't need to talk anyways.
It's not like his games ever needed it.

They're only cutscenes guys, and it doesn't seem like the game will have that much considering everything we've seen so far was just GAMEPLAY GAMEPLY GAMEPLAY, and the game comes out in 2 weeks and all they showed so far was a minute cutscene that proves the game has a really simple story with VA that's not even as bad as most people put it out there.

Different voice actors will always sound weird, but in this case it actually fits the characters as I've come to know them, as opposed to being the most INSUFFERABLE pieces of shit I've ever had the misfortune of grating my eardrums against. I don't like new sonic as much as Adventures Sonic, but I actually think I like new Tails better than the old one.
As far as the cutesy nature of it, I don't mind that either. Sonic is a fun character, but he also saves the world. What I'd love to see happen is an arc starting from this light-hearted feel coming to a darker, more danger-filled feeling as it goes, ending with a climatic victory that makes everything right again. Personally I hate the soap opera storylines in large doses, and the same goes for the cute stuff. It needs balance.
Soap opera style storylines ruined Star Fox for me too. It needs to have some light-hearted elements that BUILD into something more serious.

Honestly people have been bitching about sonic's voice ever since he lost it from the sonic adventure games.
People bitched when he kept his anime VA for SSBB.
People bitched when he kept it for other games.
Now it's finally gone with a newer voice actor and even though the voice is deeper it captures sonic's comic personality MUCH more than the shit we've put up with the past few years.
What do people do?
Still bitch.
Edit: then again this is sonic, and even with anything remotely good in it people will always try find something to complain about.
