@Dils: They're actually are supposed to fall from the background a stream down across the foregound and further off the stage.

Looks fantastic, but is that a grave in the front?

I did that before I read the "waterfalls are falling from the background" bit. Anyway, I don't really know what I was doing, I suppose I just wanted to try some stage work. No, the waterfalls aren't meant to look good, I only drew and colored them to give the basic idea. Thanked by: JackMan

Sometimes, Clash, simpler is better. I want you to take a look at this screenshot from M&L:
Sorry for JPEG, but I'm sure you get the general idea. Those grass tiles on the right use no unnecessary textures. In fact, most of the tile is taken up by one color of green. You don't have to overcomplicate things to make them look better. Thanked by: Iceman404

I dont really like the idea of having a b/g waterfall. It would look so much better on-stage.
Anyway, great as usual, Tarv!

Thanks mate!
I too feel bad about not having been spriting recently, Christmas had me real jammed up with boring crap to keep me busy. Hopefully I'll have a lot more free time to just work on some stuff here. Anyway, My stage idea thing doesn't completely explain the origin of the water, but we can just imagine there's some sort of infinite water source within the stage yeah? xD I mean, this is smash bros. after all, not very much is supposed to make sense. Gotta question.
Are we making custom music for our FD/Battlefield? Or are we just going to use brawl/melee/64 music? (dat Gary)

Unless someone wants to write some music (I could actually do that if need-be) then I think we should just go with current pieces.

Are these waterfalls going to be like very fast, gushing waterfalls like this or a thin sheet of water that trickles down like this?
Either way, my suggestion for the water source would be a somewhat large landmass/pile of boulders in the background, maybe to the side of the smash bros symbol structure thing (not really large, but a little taller than that structure?). Maybe even have this connect to the underside of the platform, with the fighting platform being embedded in it? A cave hole near the top of the rocky landmass would have water flowing out of it, like in this picture. I'll draw a picture to illustrate what I mean.
I think this tune would fit best.

My idea of the stage background (not drawn to size, obviously) The tree on the right was just something I added to balance out the picture a bit. The main part of the floating island landmass would be on the left. Even though it sticks out a little bit past the edge of the stage, it would still be part of the background and not be able to be interacted with. There could be rocks, and those emeralds on the bottom, sticking out of the hill, and the water splits and goes around the stage. I am assuming it would just flow right under the fighting platform, but if we make it a very calm, easy-flowing stream, then maybe the water could even flow over the fighting platform (again, it'd be an aesthetic change only, characters wouldn't slip or anything. It'd be like stepping in a puddle pretty much). Is this too much? I feel like I'm getting overly-complicated with my design.

Well I like it. Though a lot more work will have to go into the stage. Considering most of the SSB stages are just floating in mid air I first thought this a bad idea. But I now think that it could work really well. It would give me more incentive - as a player - to choose this stage. However, I think that any more extras would be overkill.

Yeah, with the waterfalls, the river, the hill, the tree, and the gong, I think I may have suggested too much. But I just really liked the idea of the water flowing down some rocks and into the waterfalls. Maybe if we moved the hill behind the gong and shrunk it a bit, and also eliminating the tree? But I think that would be too clustered. I mean the gong already makes a pretty good background by itself. Maybe the hill could be smaller?
