2 is the best, so skip all the others and just play that.
It has pretty much no connection to the first game.
It has pretty much no connection to the first game.
So I want to try Resident Evil.

Silent Hill's better. O:

Agreed with the above. Silent Hill 2 is the best of all IMO
But if you REALLY have to try Resident Evil, 2 is the best, available for PS1, N64 (avoid this one) and GameCube (it's just the PS1 version). After Resident Evil 2, if you're still interested, play Resident Evil 3 Nemesis . Avoid at all costs Resident Evil Gaiden (GBC). I'd recommend the RE1 GC/Wii for the graphics and RE1 for PS1 the hilariously BAD acting (with real actors instead of some CG). Resident Evil Zero looks like lots of fun, I still have to play it (but I hate Rebecca too much to try). Resident 4 and 5 are a completely different storyline, genre, gameplay and everything altogether. Thanked by: Chutzpar

RE1 on the GC is really a lot more than just enhanced graphics

i'm the only one who likes the resident evil games as a whole
mean, resident evil isnt as scary as people painted it but its certainly one fun action game to play. although the first 3 haven't aged as well as i would like them to. i personally still enjoy RE3 over the rest of the games purely thanks to nemesis chasing you non stop from the very begining.

Goddammit, Resident Evil 4 was one of the best games of all time.
That game was crack.

I love Resident Evil. I recommend starting with the PSX version, get the Director's cut if you can. The Gamecube version is good too, but it is also a little different. There are added rooms and better graphics, but still you get a great experience from starting with the original. Then you can play Resident Evil 2 and 3 if you like, which were both released on Playstation and Gamecube. Resident Evil 3 is identical on both systems, however Resident Evil 2 has at least one added feature on the Gamecube version. Its called an arranged mode where you get an assault rifle with unlimited ammo. Using that weapon makes beating the game a piece of cake. But I would say you should use that only if replaying the game so you get a better feel as to how good part 2 is when you play it for real.
