I'm blown away. This is absolutely marvelous. And in C# to boot.
I'd like to build on what Zac said though. An online monster game like this could benefit greatly from some Facebook action.
*slight pause while every tSR member groans loudly in unison*
If you were to make a separate FB game using a lot of the same code but change things to be more social you could easily have a hit. I think that this could really profit from what I call the "casualcore" market, or people who don't think of themselves as gamers and thus don't play on consoles but don't want to play games like Sims Social or Castleville on Facebook. All it really is is changing the way you encounter monsters. The turn-based battling is already perfect for Facebook. It brings Pokemon to a much wider audience that would never play actual Pokemon.
The choice is yours, either way this is spectacular.

Is the Monster Dex being updated? I can't find the stats for the monsters in the new style.

correct me if i am wrong
but what is the "development" part of this thread? its more or less a free ad on the site for your game, considering there little to no development notes or anything on the subject of "building" the game but rather you gathering people to play it.

That's true, the game is out of it's early development stages.
Maybe move it to Games Discussion?

I have to say, although I'm not really a fan of this general concept, the artwork is fantastic.

Just an fyi to the entire tSR community: this game breaks various laws as he is making money from this.
The entire engine he is using used to be his online Pokemon mmo that got shut-down from Nintnedo. He is literally using the exact same engine and attack/defense, abilities, etc code that was programmed for the pokemon he had. He had 610 pokemon on his original site, he now has 659 or so "monsters". He just changed the graphics and the name slightly.
It hasn't been 100% verified but it is highly probable he has custom stolen graphics based Pokemon and Zelda series in his game which when created were given to the public on the basis they be used in non-profit fan-games and usually credit be given.
NoA and NoE have already been contacted. Various forums where he has posted this have already deleted his topics about this.
Before you ask,"How does he make money?" Look at all the ads. You know he is making at least decent money when he has 10 or so people working on this.
You cannot make money off of a fan-game like this. These kinds of websites/games is what pisses the game companies off. It has the potential to have stricter enforcement of copyright laws. Even tSR could be affected if this guy gets legal action taken against him by Nintendo(which may very well happen) just for keeping this thread active and supporting it.
I have said my part. It's upto you to do some investigative process on your own to determine what you believe. As I already stated, Nintendo of America and Nintendo of Europe have recently been contacted by a quite a number of people about this website, Monstermmorpg. He was shut-down once already.
If the mods feel this post is breaking rules or bad for business, delete it. I said what needed to be said to keep fan-gaming free of crap like these games.
More evidence he didn't change much: http://www.monstermmorpg.com/Monster-Pictures.aspx
Look at all the Pokemon that are still in this "original" game. It may be free-2-play but that doesn't mean you can support it with ads and make money from it.
In his own forum, he accepts donatins and has publicly shown his monetary budget for continuing to work on this game. As in, once he reaches a certain level of money, then he will work/release new maps. Paying for content on a f2p game?
I am going to jump in and say I don't see the reason of this game being blocked by game companies at all.
I don't know a lot about copyright laws, but I believe that it is legal-action worthy if he's using copyrighted material for profit. You can even read on the op:
"MonsterMMORPG was once called as PokemonCraft. It was a Pokemon MMORPG being developed by me. It started as my graduation project . I am a computer engineer. I started developing at 2009 and since then i am developing. Game was up almost with 99.99% until Nintendo forced to shut down our game. But i did not give up on my game and removed all of the nintendo copyrighted stuff from my game. Now it is a unique Monster MMORPG game."
This means, he is no longer using copyrighted material that could put him in problems.
"but he's using the same engine of that Pokémon game"
That doesn't matter, as he coded the engine himself in C#, if I'm not mistaken. That means, the coding is also 100% his. Even if he copied Pokémon gameplay, I don't know if it is lawsuit-worthy because if so, Digimon and other monster-collecting games would also have had problems too.
tl;dr it's not a Pokémon game and thus it's not lawsuit worthy, in my point of view. If anyone wants to add something to this discussion/correct me, go ahead.

This means, he is no longer using copyrighted material that could put him in problems. Did you not see the link I posted? How about 400+ pokemon right there? Not saying it as a dick; saying it as there is copyright content in his game engine(you're telling me all the actual Pokemon algorithms do not fall under copyright law?), he has Zelda and Pokemon sprites/tiles in this game, and has an entire page of pokemon on his website.
I think there is plenty cause for contacting Nintendo.
Oh and Digimon has completely different algorithms for damage and abilities.

I know right? Why can't game developers make huge cool games for free and work at McDonalds to support it? The nerve of them, giving the ability to play a game without purchasing anything but enhancing the game when you pay money! What a bunch of bastards!
e: Hell, why don't they shut down Zynga for making money like this and making games eerily similar to other games! They might have coded it themselves but the idea for Farmville came from Farmtown!!!
I typed the post before you added that, I can't read your edits while composing a post.
Then, I don't think there's much to do, unless he changes those offending graphics.
now, as for working out the pokémon programming in your own, I don't know if it's a copyright issue.

Should have stated it better: "donating" for content that is supposed to be free 2 play. He is not unlocking the content he is globally releasing the content. Big difference in what you are being sarcrastic about. Free WoW has content locked; buy the game, it gets unlocked.
Monstermmorpg; donate for him to make new areas for everyone to play.
Gors:
It is usually brushed aside if fan-games are not making money on it. Even that doesn't stop game companies from shutting down various fan-games over the last dozen years or so.
