Why's... it so popular? First off they're in some subspace universe where there is nothing around them, just a green canvas.
Second, the writing isn't that amazing. I don't think anyone speaks like that, or has ever spoken like that.
And that lord watcher dude came way too fast, he would have heard what they were talking about.
Also the text bubbles are very unattractive.

Bad writing and little effort, the word bubbles are lazy, there's no background? really? I don't know what's happening in the last panel, I'm pretty sure those are flower sprites, not fire.

And now for the usual spiel, sprite comics are bad, don't do them, there is infinitely more merit in drawing your own comics even if you aren't good at it, etc etc.
