My animation skills are far better than my spriting skills.

I am thankful that spiters resource exists for those guys who can't make their own sprites for their animations.

I watched patiently up until the first textbox appeared.

And then I couldn't really watch it anymore. It was jittery, ill-fitting, and not in any way conducive to actual animation. I was expecting lip movement, or voicing, or the sprites in the background to emote when speaking, but none of that happens; and it makes it unbearable to watch. I definitely couldn't put up with that for an hour and a half.

There's nothing really wrong with using pixelart as an animation medium, but you have to think like an animator. The textbox-based cutscenes of 16-Bit RPGs is not how you tell a story outside of a video game.

Edit: So I skarted skipping around in the video looking at different parts. It doesn't get any better. All your sprite animations are fucking terrible. You have not mastered sprite animation. No way.
Specs 'n' Headphones has been revamped! Check it, yo.

I just want to say one thing here

"I have now mastered 2D animation."

the fact that you would make that claim is an insult to anyone who has ever spent a lifetime dedicated to the field of animation.
this video is a bunch of clip art you compiled and strung together

I knew someone that did these kind of sprite animations in high school.
I think I watched up until the part Groove said. Then it reminded me too much of those awful RPG maker projects that were made so frequently.
Then I decided to skip around too. Most of it was just the text boxes, and the animation I did see was walking and scrolling of the background (forgive me if I missed any other actual animations, cause like I said I skipped to parts).
It basically felt like one of those really long video game cutscenes that you just wish would end so you could play the damn game.
Of course none of the cutscenes I've experienced were quite as long.
Although, I urge you to try and continue animation (as you have not mastered anything), are you trying to get into drawing frame by frame animations?

The best parts are where backgrounds just break apart and start spinning at 900 miles an hour. Those warm my heart. What I mean by that is they are giving me a heart attack, HELP!

I was going to be polite about this, but I read the description for the video and you seem INCREDIBLY full of yourself. You've barely even grasped animation, let alone mastered
Most senior projects I've ever seen involving animation are usually about 5 to 10 minute shorts, why you decided to go so far beyond that for an overall worse outcome is beyond me.
That being said, how did you even post this? Doesn't youtube have a ~10 minute limit?

I will say, you do seem to have the devotion needed to make a quality animation, just give yourself a more realistic project and learn more about animation, because it doesn't seem like your class taught you much about it.

>>"This animation was logged at 890 hours"

>>00: 00: 55 "But in extange, his final wish was granted"
>>00: 02: 17 "Hey daddy, can I get my three million dollar allowance now?" and not even joking
>>00: 02: 29 "Wat was tat, daddy?"
>>00: 04: 39 "Hurry!" mean taking 15 seconds to run off the screen
>>Dialogue boxes take a whopping 3 seconds to display text
>>Action scenes are slow and wordy
>>realizes that I'm bored and stops watching within the 5 min mark

clearly you didn't spend enough time on storyboarding the entire thing, it's an extreme chore to watch IMO. Did you even notice the spelling error at the beginning of the movie? This looks like you made it without proper evaluating and planning.

>>"I thank my mentor, Brain Davis, for helping me with my senior project. Without him, I would not of even been able to get it onto youtube."

did he seriously have to teach you how to upload a video on youtube

>>"I have also now mastered Sprite Based Animation."

did your high school teacher tell you that
NOPE.

fair thing is, we've got to admit logging 890 hours on a project is remarkable. even for a terrible sprite movie done in windows movie maker. dedication is dedication.(if not obsesion)

but still, its a 90mins stream of shit. i wouldn't be surprised if this gets caughts by some trolling sites and gets some attention due its horrible quality.

I think from the two topics he's made, he either can't handle criticism, or he just doesn't come on the site at all.
It's probably the latter.
